The MSTA-S is a Soviet and Russian self-propelled 152-mm artillery system designed to destroy tactical nuclear weapons, artillery and mortar batteries, tanks, anti-tank systems, enemy forces, air defense and anti-ballistic missile systems, command posts, and field fortifications, while also hindering enemy reserve maneuvers. It can engage observed and unobserved targets from covered positions and direct fire, including operation in mountainous terrain. It uses ammunition from the onboard magazine and ground-fed rounds without losing firepower, with a range of up to 25 km. The MSTA-S has seen active service in various conflicts and has received high praise from military forces.
