A.P. info brochure: Austin was founded in 1952 in Brooklyn, N.Y., as a museum reproduction company featuring selections from great art collections. Austin uses molds with Durastone, a special formulation of crushed stone. The mold is removed, leaving a reproduction with all the detail & texture of the original. More than 70 finishes are in the Austin Sculpture Collection. Each is applied by hand & must conform to the standards of the original. The sculpture is then waxed, buffed, & its base affixed.
