Item uses three AA size 1.5V batteries - batteries not included. The batteries are very loose in the battery compartment. I had to use tin foil to get them to make contact. The item is A/C adaptable and works perfect with one, but in this listing the adaptor is not included.
Item was always stored individually in a climate-controlled room.
