Silent Hill VHS Tape

I don’t know how long I’ve been carrying this tape with me. Maybe I picked it up at the Lakeview, maybe it was always waiting for me… sometimes it feels like things in this town find me, not the other way around. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it properly. I’ve thought about it, so many times. I’ve held it in my hands, stared at it, even put it into the player once… but when the screen lit up, I froze. Something about it felt wrong. Like pressing play would mean opening a door I couldn’t ever close again. I can’t tell you what’s inside. Maybe it’s nothing but static, an old recording that doesn’t matter anymore. Or maybe it’s the truth I’ve been running from all this time. Every time I think about it, I feel Mary’s presence. Sometimes I think it might be her voice I’ll hear if I just let the tape roll. Other times, I’m terrified of what I’ll actually see. That’s why I’m selling it. Not because I don’t care but because I care too much. Carrying this around has become unbearable, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready to face what’s inside. Maybe someone else is strong enough to finish what I couldn’t. Or maybe it should never be seen at all. I don’t know what’s on this tape. But I know it’s not just an object. It feels like a burden, a memory, and a trap all at once. Handle it carefully.
