This stunning lidded “ginger” jar is a highly crafted piece of art by fine stoneware ceramic artist Suzanne Crane. Signed by the artist, it’s about 9” tall, and 8” in diameter.
Amazingly unique and sold out. Wheel-thrown stoneware glazed in amber celadon with red berry accents and dogwood leaves. Black bird shaped knob and an intricate geometric design on the lid. The artist uses real branches and leaves to get a fossil-like impression in the clay that is used as a template for glazing. Small clay berries are glazed red, and the intricate, hand-pressed church key pattern is brushed with a red-iron oxide wash for contrast.
This piece will hold water if you choose to use it as a vase. No blemishes or damage.
